Indonesia is a country rich in religious diversity. The following are some of the religions practiced in Indonesia:
1. Islam: The majority of Indonesia’s population is Muslim. Islam is the majority religion in Indonesia and has a strong influence on culture and daily life.
2. Christian: Christianity is the largest minority religion in Indonesia. There are several Christian denominations, such as Protestants and Catholics, with followers spread across different regions.
3. Hindu: Hinduism is mainly practiced by Balinese people. Hinduism in Bali has its own characteristics and greatly influences the culture and traditions of the island.
4. Buddha: Buddhism is practiced mainly by the Chinese community and some other ethnic groups. There are various schools of Buddhism followed in Indonesia.
5. Confucian: Confucianism is a philosophical religion followed mainly by the Chinese community. Although not the majority religion, Confucianism has influence in Chinese-Indonesian culture and traditions.
6. Traditional religions: Apart from the major religions above, Indonesia also has various traditional religions followed by indigenous tribes in various regions. Examples of these traditional religions include Belief in God Almighty, Sunda Wiwitan, and Marapu (followed by the people of Sunda, East Nusa Tenggara, and its surroundings).
Indonesia recognizes the principle of freedom of religion, so that people have the freedom to choose and practice their religion according to their respective beliefs. Even so, sometimes there are challenges and conflicts related to religion in some areas, but efforts to maintain religious diversity continue.
